Meet the manic author

I'm a family person - I adore my nuclear and extended family. I moved 6000 miles, giving up a good job and nice disposable income, to be with them.

I teach - teaching is my life. I love my job, despite getting paid peanuts for it. (Don't make any sarky comments about teachers having cushy jobs though.) I teach Biology (well, Life Sciences) to high school students. Did I mention how much I love my job? There is no better feeling in the world than helping a kid see how the world around them works. Seeing that joy, that appreciation for the incredible beauty of the created order, slowly start to glow in their faces... there is nothing better. That's why I work for peanuts.

I adore all things social media/ Web 2.0/ technology based. Adore. I'm still learning about it though, particularly how to make use of this stuff in my teaching, so although I consider myself well versed, I wouldn't claim to be any sort of expert.

I'm a Christian. I hesitate to use that word because I know what you'll think - and that's not me. I struggle with my faith, not because I don't believe in God, but because I do.

My hubby and I run a support group for families who have been bereaved by a miscarriage, stillbirth or neo-natal death. You can find our website over here, or find us on Facebook.

I'm a busy person. Very busy. And when I'm not working myself to a standstill, or frantically raising my kids, or living my online life, then I enjoy a good glass of wine, or a hot mug of rooibos tea, a slab of chocolate, a good book, a board game, a puzzle, some sunshine and walking on the mountain, the company of my friends and family, or a movie or two.

Although I love it that people read my stuff and enjoy it, I don't write for them. I write for me. This is my record of the things that rock my world - positive and negative. If you don't like it, then you don't have to come back, but don't give me grief - okay? I don't have time for that.
